Improv Hopkinton: Laughter, Fun & a Fundraising Success!

We are thrilled to announce that Improv Hopkinton, a sold out event at the Warren Center, raised $28,000!   Attendees listened to the comedy of Improv Boston and danced the night away to the music of DJ Craig Sutton.  This night would not have been possible without the generosity of those that purchased tickets and the numerous local businesses who donated raffle and auction items.  We would like to recognize our sponsors for the evening as well.  The event sponsors and cash donations include Elizabeth Blake Orthodontics, American Climbers, Scott’s Landscaping, Legacy Farms, Golden Pond, STAR Realty, Jeannine Coburn Hallmark, Sotheby’s International Realty, Eversource, Mirick O’Connell, Rosado & Sons Inc, Computer Smart, Anonymous Donors, and CHPC,PC.  Lastly, we would be remiss not to recognize our Corporate Sponsors without whom our ongoing efforts would not be possible.  Thank you to EMC2, The Richmond Group, Middlesex Savings Bank, Phipps Insurance Agency and Staples.  Thank you to each and every one of you.

Those that could not attend missed an evening full of comedy, charitable giving and an incredible dance party.  While fun may have been had by all,  at the core of the evening, everyone remained aware of why they were there; the Education Foundation’s mission of “providing funding, ideas, professional development and other resources to educators so they can promote innovation that motivates students to become lifelong learners.”  Hopkinton’s Superintendent Dr. MacLeod and other school administrators came to support the evening and were thrilled with the community participation in an event supporting the school system.

Each year, the Education Foundation relies on this event and other fundraising efforts to support the mission. Last year, the Board was excited to support grants including a Weatherbug at Elmwood, Glass Kiln at Hopkins and promoting the STEM curriculum at Center School.  Timing of this event could not be better as we received this year’s grant applications and are just beginning the review process.  All the money raised at Improv Hopkinton will go directly towards supporting the grants being proposed by teachers in the district this year and upcoming years!

Lastly, the Board would like to recognize Melinda Rottas, who chaired this event.  Without her diligence, constant attention to detail and positive energy this event would not have been such a success.  Thank you Melinda.

Every year the Hopkinton Education Foundation strives to update their fundraiser and have begun working on new and fresh ideas for next year.  We hope to see those of you that came this year again and would love to see new faces in 2016!
